Everyone who watches House (Monk is less popular) seems to like him a lot but I know a couple of real life Houses and Monks and isn't that great for the ones who surround them and worser for themselves. All of them are sad, lonely, unhappy people and not so fortunate to have the popularity of their fictional alter-egos. This appears to me to be the major point.
