Loving hatred, hating love

In All Things TV
The AV Club's Inventory of 13 Memorably Unpopular Characters from Popular TV highlights the worst of the best, a truly sickening group of depressing characters from mostly otherwise fun and/or wildly popular shows.
I like the idea that we're so attached to characters and the dynamic between them that the whole series can be shaken off course by the addition of one irritating child. (Many of the characters on the list are children, or are aimed at children. Do we dislike being talked down to?)
Notable people missing from this list:
- The entire cast of 7th Heaven
- Jay Leno, Bill O'Reilly, Donald Trump (not "characters," but certainly hate-able)
- Any number of female ADAs on Law & Order

Tori, the “tough chick” who replaced Jessie and Kelly on one random season of Saved by the Bell!
Also, that list can never be complete without the miserable and violently hated Lauren Reed (Melissa George) on the third season of Alias, the character that any one of several million people wanted killed off from the second she appeared.
I’ll also put in my vote for Marissa Cooper, Carter during his flabby seasons on ER, Col. Potter on M*A*S*H, Poppy Montgomery on Without a Trace, and Eva Longoria and Teri Hatcher, regardless of where they appear but especially when they’re doing that particular brand of idiot bitch shtick on Desperate Housewives.
I hate a lot of people.

Marissa Cooper…. yesterday, today, and forever.
Also, what was the name of the guy on Dawson’s who was Abby’s foil? He had sticking out ears and went on to be in Roswell. I hated him on Dawsons. Always starting trouble.

Hey, I like Colonel Potter! I kinda hate Trapper John, though.
