“It’s not fair. No one makes fun of fat people.” ~Nicole Richie on her alleged eating disorder

In General
In a stunning display of network programming GENIUS, America's Next Top Model and The Biggest Loser premiered last night in the same time slot, creating a major conflict for yours truly. Do I go with the genuine overweight people or the soulless underweight people? Despite tifauxing both, I was still manically flipping back and forth, trying to catch all of the magic. Oh, and I also ate an entire sleeve of oreos during the 2 hour premiere. It just seemed like the right thing to do.
The crew at ANTM went with their "most controversial photo shoot of ALL TIME" for the first episode, which turned out to be… portraying model stereotypes. Yeah, you're really going to piss off fundamentalists with that one. So while the 50 contestants on The Biggest Loser were collectively weighing in at over 14,000 pounds, one of Tyra's new circus ponies was giving us this:

Let is also be said that her identical twin/ equally unattractive sister was selected to portray the Bulemic Model stereotype. It was identically disturbing and equally unattractive.
My early favorites on this one do not, in fact, include the blonde chick who rapped in her audition ("I got a whole lot of personality you just can't bottle! Check it out, I'm on America's Next Top Model!") or either lollipop twin, but rather the self-named Melrose who collapsed to the floor after narrowly escaping elimination, and AJ who turned an endearing shade of red when questioned by the judges. Love her. Love.
As for The Biggest Loser, I feel obligated to root for the contestant from New York, but my real favorite is the perky chick trainer, Kim. Her dad was an airforce pilot! And she looks great in a sports bra! I love you, Kim!

I struggled through ANTM last night. I’ve been a dedicated fan for the last (holy shit is this true??) 6 seasons, but I think I’ve reached my limit with this show. I know it’s more or less been all about Tyra from the beginning, but last night, I think we crossed a line into a Tyra Banks full-on ego masturbate-a-thon. The best example of this transformation is the fact that “Tyra Mail” now arrives in the form of a magazine (aptly named “Tyra”) so that you have YET ANOTHER chance to see Tyra posing in some fashion spread. You’d think the giant, frightening photos of the diva displayed all over the house and looming over each model’s bed at night would be enough…
Tyra is a horrible racist (do you remember the “Danielle, you can’t talk ghetto like that” episode from cycle 6?), and, I’m going to say it, a sociopath (notice how she’s determined to break people down by bringing up horribly sad and difficult subjects, just so she can comfort them later…and gets pissed when they don’t cry!).
So in sum, I will probably watch the show anyway. I like AJ, Jaeda and Anchal.

I agree, this is now the TYRA IS NOT OLD AND FAT IS AMERICA’S TOP MODEL show but I love her because she is a deranged narcissist (have you *seen* her talk show?).
So, I love ANTM and will watch every cycle. I think the twins are uggo in real life but in that weird alien high-fashion model way — their pics were great. And as long as it doesn’t seem like the producers are calling all the shots (ahem, PR) I will happily watch it — oh, Tyra is a producer so that negates my comment.
Anyway, my early faves are the twins and AJ. I think Melrose is on her way out, she does like “long in the tooth,” as Miss Jay said.
Also, anyone else think Twiggy should be called Twitty? She’s just so pointless.

PS: I love Nigel with all my soul.
