This Weekend on the TiFaux: Wait For It… Wait For It… Battlestar Galactica

Friday: Nothing.

Saturday: Nothing.

Sunday: Battlestar Galactica!

Oh my god, you guys. Battlestar Galactica. So last week, someone really, really important died. Seemed to die. Appeared death-like in a thousand little blown-up bits. But who can believe it? She must be a Cylon, right? But in a way, that's even MORE disturbing than just killing her off. And if they really are just killing her off, what a bold choice to make! They had to know no one would believe it. It's crazy, is what it is. Any way you look at it. To be honest I didn't think the episode was all that great — seemed to have the same loopy backstory-heavy melodrama of the past couple episodes — but what an ending.

Brave, brave Sir Robin

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming: Last week I forgot to mention that BBC America was starting to show the BBC's Robin Hood series here. The second episode airs a couple times this weekend, starting at 9 on Saturday. (Here's a summary of the first episode: Crusades violent, King John weak, King Richard gone, Robin brave and good and cheeky, former servant cheeky, Maid Marion cheeky, Sheriff of Nottingham and Guy of Guisborn Gisborne evil, taxes evil.) I kind of liked it. It may have been trying a bit too hard with all the cheeky, and Robin's not a very complex hero, but if you've got swordfighting, bows and arrows, evil sheriffs, saucy maids, giant castles — what's not to like?

The Funk: The Fratellis

Lots of people have lots of opinions on Apple, iPods, digital music downloading, etc.  But no matter what, you've got to give Steve Jobs and company some credit for marketing their product really well.

Part of the advertising venture is the much-parodied campaign with the colorful dancing silhouettes backed by hip, unknown rock bands.  A few years ago they had an ad with The Caesars playing "Jerk It Out."   Their latest commercial has a similar song, but by a different band.  It's a scrappy, danceable rock song with a UK-sounding edge.

That song would be Flathead by The Fratellis and it's pretty darn catchy.  The Fratellis are trio from Glasgow and their name was not inspired by The Goonies.  So says Wikipedia.

Here's the video for the song in the iPod commercial.  It's kind of similar to the commercial, but with a Bettie Page twist.
