In Buffy

Black Square, Kasimir Malevich.
Ah, there it is. The nothingness. The void. The eyes: closed. The television: off. The emptiness of a soul crying out to its maker. As a wise man once said, it’s like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none.
Yes, friends, there’s nothing on television tonight. No Veronica, no House, no Gilmore Girls. Only the black hole of American Idol, sucking the light out of everything around it and collapsing in on itself from the weight of its own train-wreck navel-gazing can’t-look-away meaninglessness. Or a blank screen, reflecting yourself sitting on the couch staring back at it, hungry for something that just isn’t there.
Don’t feel too bad. Look at the kitties!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming: Fox Movie Channel has been showing the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, and does so again tonight. If you haven’t caught it yet and so have yet to find yourself transfixed in morbid fascination, check it out. It’s written by Joss Whedon, so the shadows of good ideas are just barely visible, but it’s really bad. Bad, bad. It makes you appreciate how great the series is even more. Sort of like watching the unaired pilot.
Those kitties are fucked up.
And besides, dogs rule, cats drool.
