Heresy on Fox

Posted by Dan March 16th, 2007 at 11:28am In American Idol The Funk

In the days when I watched American Idol (I haven't seen a single episode this season!  Are you proud?), I used to fantasize that one day the contestants would actually sing good songs.  Songs that I would have on my iPod.  It would just be deliciously subversive for someone to croak out Joanna Newsom's "Sadie" after a hundred awkward versions of "Crocodile Rock."

Via Stereogum, I found out that respectable songs are best left unmolested by the AI kids.  Below, you'll find them doing one of the weirdo commercial songs to the tune of Modest Mouse's "Float On."

It's totally gross.

(PS – The first couple seconds of the Joanna Newsom song are kinda harsh, but give it a minute.)
