This Weekend on the TiFaux: Take It Easy

joel.jpgHey, do you guys watch The Soup? I don't mention it often (or ever — we're on a blog that talks about TV talking about a TV show that talks about TV, and now I'm dizzy), but I kind of love it. Even when the jokes fall flat, it's got such a plucky, do-it-yourself, let's-not-take-this-too-seriously vibe I can't help but enjoy myself. Charming Joel McHale probably has a lot to do with that, and the audience that is clearly 90% interns, 10% the one camera operator. (Math humor alert!)

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss hosts Saturday Night Live. Though I've never seen an episode to confirm this, she actually was on Saturday Night Live in the 80s. SNL in the 80s. Shudder.

I think my brief love affair with the BBC's Robin Hood is over. There's just not enough there to sustain my interest. In the middle of last week's episode I became so engrossed with the history of the Robin Hood legend I stopped watching entirely.

On the flipside, I'll never give up on Battlestar Galactica, even if they keep haphazardly killing people's favorite characters and blathering on about a trial. These are people that are on the run from killer robots. A drawn-out, public spectacle of a trial? Not much to get excited about. I mean, there are only two ways this can go: they kill Baltar like they always wanted to, or through Baltar's incredible (some may say super-human) self-preservation ability he manages to change everyone's mind. I'm betting on the latter. Also, I did enjoy the introduction of Romo Lampkin (aka Badger from Firefly), even if he has an unbearably absurd fakey sci-fi precious name.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming: Learn to love your furry nemesis in Animal Planet's Mouse: A Secret Life on Sunday night. If that's too creepy, Magnolia and Boogie Nights are on IFC that same night. ABC has a show on Saturday called Celebrity A-List Bloopers. I think the title is self-explanatory. Then VH1 has the rock and roll hall of fame induction ceremony, but who am I kidding, you'll be out drinking for St. Patrick's Day.

I believe we’ve all been through my deep, deep love for The Soup and for Joel McHale. I won’t bother to restate it.
