This Weekend on the TiFaux: It’s Like the Mid-Late-90s All Over Again

In SNL
Molly Shannon returns to SNL to host. If you caught last weekend’s SNL Salute to the 90s, you may have noticed that everything looks pretty funny in hindsight. (I suppose that shouldn’t be too hard when you boil down hundreds of hours of shows into a 2-hour special. But still. You know how I hate the cliché of ripping on SNL just to say something. [I have to say, though, that Molly Shannon was never one of my favorites. Or any of her standard characters. Shhh, don't tell.]) Other things I learned… Will Ferrell: nicest man in the world. Jimmy Fallon: on drugs? He was saying words in his talking head interviews, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t thoughts, or even sentences.
And it’s the conclusion of Bleak House on Masterpiece Theatre! Get psyched! …No one’s been watching, have they?
We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming: There’s a televised equestrian competition on Animal Planet on Saturday. That could be fun. And on Sunday, there’s a show on the History Channel that’s just called Hippies, and a show on the Travel Channel called Jet Set (about going to Dubai to hear a concert while drowning yourself in pools of champagne and diamonds) — go back and forth for balance.
