Judd Apatow Week: Undeclared

In the continuation of Judd Apatow week on TiFaux, we bring you this clip from his other cult television classic, Undeclared. I have to be totally honest and admit that I did not get into Undeclared as much as I did Freaks and Geeks. Something about the switch to the half-hour sitcom format made the characters feel less fleshed-out to me, especially the girls. I also think that college isn’t as funny as high school.

However, it was honest and weird in the same way as F&G, and lots of fun, following a bunch of freshman through their first year of college. My favorite was the episode where someone has the flu and they end up literally dragging him to University Health Services, which was written by Seth Rogen (fact check!). Couldn’t find a clip of that, but the guy who speaks only in impressions — a guy I’m sure we all knew at one point — is pretty great, too. Remember how awesome Perry was on “Undeclared?” I’m sad that the character of Perry wasn’t preserved intact and inserted into another show. Why couldn’t he follow Jason onto “How I Met Your Mother?” He could be the across-the-hall neighbor or something.
