Chew On This

Ew. Ben Silverman, new co-chair of NBC entertainment, is making me feel all gross this morning with this slate of news. The one undeniable plus in all this is Seinfeld going on 30 Rock; I can’t wait to see what they do with him. Everything else is just a little… ick.

I’m not saying Isaiah Washington should be blacklisted forever and ever, but actively pursuing him now seems like a shameless ploy for publicity, not a well-reasoned casting choice. Also, he’s clearly unhinged, and I don’t want him getting too near my girl Katee.

And a celebrity Apprentice? If there was ever anything remotely entertaining about Trump’s macho bluster, it has officially run its course. I feel stupider just thinking about this show.

I’m worried about NBC, and this brash new dude full of big (possibly bad) ideas. Is it too late to warn them to Stay Classy?

And finally, does anyone have any thoughts on the CBS/Mandy Patinkin brouhaha? Having never seen Criminal Minds, all I can do is try to make jokes about how none of the fans will notice if they replace him because they’re so old. But that’s just mean, so I won’t.

I wouldn’t worry about Mr. Washington getting too close to your beloved Katee. They can’t possibly be considering our latest ‘Mr. Spock’ acting sensation for a romantic lead – It has to be a villain or maybe it’s the guy who gives the bionic chick her marching orders. I never understood those who admired this actor (regardless of his repugnant off screen personality), because of his total inability to express emotion, which would seem like a basic requirement for, whaddayoucallit, er, acting.

As for ‘Celebrity Apprentice’: This has got to be the reality show version of ‘Jumping the Shark’. One can only hope that they get to the point where Mr. Trump will show up in a clown costume – I would watch that. If they are just interested in generating audiences (and surely that is the only thing they are interested in) they should just hire the loathsome Ms. O’Donnell to appear with the disgusting Mr. T. and just insult each other for an hour.

As for Mr. P. (who’s voice, Maggie will be quick to tell you, I much admire): even I am not old enough to have ever watched this show.
