A Funny Show You’re Probably Not Watching

Normally when I hear the words “basic cable half-hour sitcom,” I picture cheap sets, possibly improvised dialogue, and uncomfortably weird characters. I also picture myself changing the channel because that shit can be painful.
Well, take away the improvised dialogue and me changing the channel, and add in a whole lot of genuine laughs, and you’ve got The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman on IFC. You guys, this show is funny!
It stars Laura Kightlinger, who has seriously amazing timing, along with at least two faces you might recognize: The oldest daughter from The Nanny, now playing a slutty grown-up! The chick who knew she was going to die in the 7th season of Buffy (this one absolutely killed me until I figured it out — she’s got a very distinctive voice)! Etc, etc!
Laura is Jackie, a booze-loving, irresponsible writer in LA. The oldest daughter (whose name, I’m now remembering, was Maggie) from The Nanny is Tara, her slutty friend. I really don’t think there’s anything else you need to know. TiFaux it. Expect laughter. Thank me later.
I’ve TiFauxed the past two episodes of this and have only had time to see about half of one. I cannot believe that is grown-up Maggie from The Nanny.
And you know how much I love my sassy comediennes. I love Laura Kightlinger and I’ve totally read her book.
The other Maggie was growing up in Hindsdale when our Maggie was a child not far away (but younger).
