Let the frantic panting begin

In Battlestar Galactica
There’s a new Battlestar Galactica promo going around that’s all stark and minimal and dramatic. Says one of the dudes at Sci-Fi, “Battlestar Galactica is often misconstrued as a visual effects-driven show, when in actuality it is a well-scripted, character-driven series. Sci-Fi wanted to focus on the characters.”
While I have yet to indulge in Battlestar Galactica — though I’m sure it is a heapin’ helping of sci-fi goodness — I’m sure the TiFaux devotees will treat this clip like the bucket of chum it is.
There are no clips of the next season, just so you know. Don’t get too worked up.
The new season begins in March.
Kyle and I were transfixed by this promo while watching Tin Man. There’s more genuine drama and good acting in that clip than three nights worth of Alterna-Dorothy.
Oh, that reminds me that I never wrote about Tin Man. Maybe because I only got through one and a half nights? The strongest feeling I had after those one and a half nights was that Zooey Deschanel may be a lovely young woman with awesome hair, but she is not such a good actress. And that the Tin Man’s pants were too tight.
This promo is absolutely BRILLIANT. I love it. It really lends a new perspective to the phrase “man in the moon” with all of that sunsetting imagery and may or may not offer us a hint to the future of a character that we all have serious suspicions about.
If the whole series has been blurring the lines between human and machine, man and cylon, this promo continues that, alternating between man and cylon, and their very human emotions. Here is the order:
5 (cylon)
Baltar (man)
Tighe (cylon)
Rosslyn (man)
Starbuck (cylon?)
Adama (man)
Does this promo hint the future of Starbuck…
in an unrelated item, does anyone know how and if the strike is affecting BSG production and release in March?
Mikey, they’re shut down. I’m not sure how many episodes were finished. But perhaps SciFi will start the season early as it runs out of made-for-TV giant prehistoric crocodile movies?
Also, Dan, this right here is why you should be watching BSG.
Ahem, Mike: I’m pretty sure that was ‘6′, not ‘5′.
Anybody else catch the clip of members of the cast of Blade Runner discussing whether Deckard is a ‘replicant’ or not. E. J. Olmos slips and says that he doesn’t think Deckard is a ‘CYLON’.
Starbuck, a Cylon; that would explain how she survived the crash into the planet. Now please explain how Baltar survived the nuclear explosion in the first five minutes of episode 1.
good point about Baltar, something that I used to wonder about but since forgot about.
and yes, it was six you are totally right, which makes more sense because she’s the DEVIL in a red dress.
Allegedly, 6 shielded Baltar from the explosion with her body. It’s possible he was far enough away from the explosion that he just needed shielding from the shrapnel and 6’s Cylon body was strong enough to do that. Wasn’t his miraculous survival one of the reasons he suspected he was a Cylon? That and his overwhelming desire to not have betrayed his own race.
