I recently came across a news item for The Bad Mother’s Handbook — a new ABC pilot. It has a really strong cast, but it’s weird, because they’re supposed to be three generations of women that a weirdly close together.

As is the case when I can’t really figure out what to say about something, let’s turn this into a game. I’ll list three actresses, you have to guess which one is actually the one who is cast.

Eldest generation: Megan Mullally, Maura Tierney, Gillian Anderson

Middle generation: Alicia Silverstone, Heather Graham, Sarah Michelle Gellar

Youngest generation: Mischa Barton, Alexis Bledel, Alia Shawkat

Do you remember Heroes? Because I barely do.

The last new episode aired in early December of 2007. I seem to recall Veronica Mars showing up and being a sociopath, HRG getting shot in the face then coming back to life and then a season finale where they had life-or-death cliffhangers for almost every character (or, like, three).

Since Heroes went on hiatus, I’ve traveled the world, had dozens of love affairs and earned my master gardener certificate.

In any case, there’s a trailer on Hulu for the new season. It’s a bit of a let-down because there’s no new footage, but it’s kind of fun to remember that Heroes will come back some day. And then we can all sit down, watch and complain about how the first season was better.

Episode 9’s scoring is a bit of a mess with 4 Quickfire winners and a shared win. Although Richard’s gesture was kind, the scores solely reflect the judges comments since they ultimately determine the winner, not the contestants. In addition, it was pretty clear that Lisa was not in the bottom, she just happened to be on the losing team.
