I suppose it’s a comforting sort of resignation that one must feel when the realization hits that one’s cable network primarily appeals to college-age stoners in boxer shorts and baseball caps. Certainly it must not be a surprise to the suits at Comedy Central that their programming appeals to that demographic — after all, they air a lot of movies that can only be tolerated under chemically-altered states.
However, it must take an entirely different level of resolve to release a DVD directed specifically towards the weed-loving, beard-growing, acoustic guitar-plucking, Bonnaroo-going fellas. Take this excerpt from the press release for Comedy Central’s new Home Grown DVD, which (as best I can tell) is merely a compilation of disconnected features which would seem much more enjoyable under the influence.
The best of Comedy Central’s most “experimental” shows are now available in this must-own collection that’s sure to bring all your buds together — and by buds, we mean friends. (Really). Just don’t be surprised when you find yourself up at 3:00 a.m. eating raw cookie dough in your parents’ kitchen.
For some reason, I feel like this DVD will be watched and then the viewers will ask each other if they’ve ever really taken the time to think about grapes. I mean, grapes, man.
In any case, we’re giving away TWO copies of this here DVD. It actually has some fun stuff on it including Bob Ross painting happy little trees and clips from Comedy Central shows like “Chappelle’s Show,” “Crank Yankers,” “Drawn Together,” “Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil,” “RENO 911!” “The Sarah Silverman Program,” “Strangers with Candy,” “Comedy Central’s TV Funhouse” and “Viva Variety.”

For now, here’s a clip of the aforementioned Bob Ross.
