Welcome to my new favorite show: Cooking With Dog.
Don’t get all freaked out — there are no labradoodle alfredo recipes or anything — CWD is merely an internet cooking show featuring traditional Japanese dishes and hosted by a dog named Francis. Francis, who appears to be a smokey-colored poodle, provides accented voice over narration while a woman provides on-camera demonstration.
It really couldn’t be more simple. Or hypnotic. Take a look.
I think the best thing about Cooking With Dog is that it is no-frills. I mean, yes, there is the whole ‘dog as host’ thing and you have to get used to how unsanitary it must be to have that mutt walking around the kitchen and getting his business all over the fish. But the most interesting part of the show is the food — it’s exotic, clearly explained and charmingly presented.
The show is just as soothing as Barefoot Contessa but retains that wacky Japanese sensibility. The fusion is strangely pleasing.
That is indeed deeply odd, but hypnotic. Although I was very worried Francis would catch himself on fire, sitting so close to the burner.
