This video made me very sad. So I’d like to remind all of you who have the chance to vote down the various horrible, divisive ballot measures that will be before you next Tuesday to do so. Californians, that’s no on 8. Arizonians, no on 102. Floridians, no on the Marriage Protection Amendment. Arkansans, no on the adoption ban.

Basically, the world sucks right now. How about everybody votes not to limit the civil rights of people in love and the capability of loving parents to foster and adopt children in need of families? As Dionne Warwick reminds us, the world needs love. The economy needs it, too.

It’s not often that I’m sincere. So, um, pay attention. Vote. My roommate and I will send you an “I Voted” button if you want one. Thanks.

I watch a lot of television. Much of it is out of a sense of duty to this precious blog.

If I didn’t have a television blog, the chances are unlikely that I would have five unwatched episodes of Chuck lingering on my TiFaux waiting to be watched when and if I get the flu. If I didn’t have a television blog, I would have never even thought about watching the first and only episode of Do Not Disturb — this season’s Emily’s Reasons Why Not.

Also, if I didn’t have a television blog, I wouldn’t have received a copy of The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice in the mail from TNT. Upon reading the press materials, it seems like this is the third made-for-cable movie in the franchise — and stars Noah Wyle (the former Dr. Carter on ER), old school SNL Jane Curtin and, bafflingly, Bob Newhart.

I don’t know why, exactly, I found The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice so funny. Part of it, I think was the title. Part of it was the heavily airbrushed artwork it came in. Part of it was the fact that it’s directed by Jonathan Frakes (Number One from Star Trek: The Next Generation). Part of it was the fact that it was Dr. Carter fighting a bunch of vampires in what appears to be a low-rent Indiana Jones. And part of it probably stems from the fact that nearly all my friends are librarians — a bizarre phenomenon that I don’t understand myself.

Roger Ebert recently got in trouble for watching eight minutes of movie before writing a review. So I won’t do him one better and write a review without going beyond the cover. Perhaps I’ll get around to watching it after the election, when I’ll have all the time in the world to winnow down my DVR queue.
