I actually kinda love the Lawrence Welk thing, and that's coming from someone who dislikes fully half of Wiig's recurring characters. The main reason this didn't make it into B+/A- range for me is that very little of this material hadn't been done in some form or another before. Whereas my favorite episode of the season, Hugh Laurie, didn't have way more sketches, but had a bunch of stuff that felt fresh and varied.

Nertz, I meant to watch the short special, mainly out of hope that some of the older digital shorts that McKay and Ferrell and others did in the late nineties/early aughts would be included. But I forgot.

I would put this episode in the A range. With the exception of the Lawrence Welk bit, which I despise, I enjoyed all of the sketches -- that's a really high rate of laughter, even if there did seem to be fewer sketches than usual. With highlights like that Celebrity Jeopardy ("I wanted a pickle") and that Billy Joel song and Harry Carey and the TNT Mark show ("From the creators of 'Jeff'"), it seems particularly strong to me.

Did you watch Sunday night's video short special? There was some weird, weird stuff from the early days, plus many of the current favorites (Lazy Sunday holds up incredibly well), and sadly not including the full Seinfeld "Oz" bit or any of "The H is O."
