Phoenix on Jimmy Kimmel

In General
While I’ve sort of established myself as TiFaux “music guy,” Marisa and Jesse are also music folk. And as I’ve gathered from Twitter, we are divided on the issue of Phoenix — a French band whose new album has become the soundtrack to my summer thus far.
Phoenix plays lively dance-pop with somewhat nonsensical lyrics. For one, I find them to be a lot of fun. And so does Jimmy Kimmel (or at least his music booker) because they played on his show last night.
Here they are playing Lisztomania. The official video is after the jump.
Highly recommended for hipster workout music.

I don’t think they’re bad so much as completely uninteresting. I could definitely listen to them and not get annoyed. They sound kinda like a bunch of other bands, particularly the Shins, which isn’t a terrible thing, but I have yet to hear their own personality coming through (unless “bouncier” counts as personality). I think it’s the dude’s voice. It sounds to me like he’s just sort of going through the motions.
