Another quick & dirty edition. So let’s get right to it:
Who won Thursday?
30 Rock almost had it for the bits with Buzz Aldrin yelling at the moon, but I’m getting a little sick of the question of Liz settling romantically. Yawn. Parks & Rec also had some choice moments, like Tom Haverford bragging about his non-height. For The Office, I kind of guessed that the chick Michael is interested in was married already, so it was an episode where the rest of the cast caught up to what I already knew.
Community, though, was fantastic. For three weeks in a row, they’ve done some kind of full-length genre parody with varying degrees of success (the college movie one was particularly uninspired). I’d like to see them switch these up a little or space them out better, but I can’t hold that against the show. It just really committed to the Mad Max-style, burned-out, post-paintball world. (I also love how they take things like chicken fingers and priority registration really seriously.) The references to post-apocalyptic movies were incorporated way more elegantly than their clunky references to classic sitcoms (which this episode did indulge in, to its detriment). And, of course, I loved the cheap shots at Glee.
