We’re nominated in the Best Culture Blog category, just like last year. Click the above link to see who else is nominated (I can’t wait to have our asses handed to us by Pop Candy again).

Voting is scheduled to begin tonight (say wha!). We’ll keep you posted.

Recently, TiFaux was asked to participate in a Fall TV Preview with a number of other bloggers including our pals Vance and Liz. The whole shebang was hosted by The TV Addict and Tapeworthy.

Now let me begin my defense — you’ll see a lot of N/As in our column. All I can say is I did my best to procure sneak previews of the fall season (the good folks at CBS are the only ones who sent me screeners) on a somewhat short notice. But we got about a third of ‘em, and I figure that’s okay.

I was pretty severe on the comedies (I’m a little baffled that not everyone hated Aliens in America as much as me), although I was feeling weirdly merciful in giving Big Bang Theory a 2.

Since we’re doing this whole Friends of the Faux thing and we’re all coming together in the spirit of television, community and e-stalking, I thought it would also be a good idea to give TiFaux a MySpace presence.

I don’t really know what will happen there. Perhaps there will be a bulletin if we do something that’s particularly awesome. Perhaps we’ll post some exclusive content. Worst case scenario, you can just artificially inflate your friend number.

Oh, I doubt anyone’s posting tomorrow (Monday). Hopefully you don’t have to work either. If you do, you should really quit. Like, seriously.

I haven’t talked to anyone else about this, but we’re all probably going to take a blogging snooze tomorrow. Well, I am at least. Probably going to go rent a canoe on the Potomac (I’m serious), go to a BBQ and then try to avoid going to see the fireworks on the national mall.

I don’t like crowds.

Anyway, I tried to find a clip of 30 Rock’s salute to fireworks, but no luck. I did find, however, a montage of scenes centering around that subplot where Jenna is trying to prove she loves the troops. For the record, the part of this clip that starts at 3:45 is why I love Tina Fey.

These are our daily “unique visitor” stats since March 1st. I’ve removed the numbers so you can’t tell how popular we really are. Notice the fairly stable traffic pattern leading up to all hell breaking loose. It was fun to hit ridiculous single-day records like on April 11, but it’s nice to see the numbers going back down. We’re still getting hits (and votes. sigh…) on the tournament pages but things should be back to normal soon. I hope a few of you out there were lured in by our tournament honey pot and stuck around for the incisive and witty commentary you found on the rest of the site. But for the majority of the tournament commenters, don’t let the electronic door hit your avatar’s ass on the way out.

It was really fascinating to see the fervor that certain fans had. Once we turned on IP logging I assumed cheaters would give up. But people actually went through the trouble of using proxy servers to fool our software into thinking they were a different computer. I know some of you consider that cheating, but honestly if you’re that dedicated to making sure Michael Vartan makes it to the next round, your vote should be counted more than once. I mean, it’s not like anything was actually at stake here. We just wanted to have some fun.

And there will be more fun in the future. I’m going to work on ways to add more interactive features like the Tournament, and there will certainy be more tournaments of different kinds. Maybe the next one will be designed to be less appealing to 14-year-old girls.

The best thing about this whole process: it was our highest-grossing month ever! Not that any of our new visitors bought a shirt or anything, but quite a few of you clicked on our lovely contextual advertisements. We might actually get paid by Google this year!

I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone who voted for TiFaux for the Weblog awards.  We faced insurmountable odds and even though we were unable to, um, surmount them, we went down swinging.  Which is just the way TiFaux would go down if we were all bareknuckle boxers.

So, I'd like to extend a hug and an affectionate pat on the ass to everyone who took the time to vote.  I'd also like to offer an unexpected European double cheek kiss to everyone who voted every day.  An uncomfortably lingering hug with full hip contact to everyone who voted from more than one computer.  An intimate slow dance to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" to everyone who linked to us or told their friends to vote.

Fifth place isn't so bad, especially when you're still kind of flabbergasted to be nominated in the first place.
