Giveaway: Bullshit! — Season Six

I do an impression of libertarians. Basically, I just hold out my palm, lazily lift my eyebrows and say “Well, actually…” like I’m really bored.

But Penn Jillette seems like a libertarian who might not get on my last nerve. He and his trusty sidekick Teller have made six seasons of their show Bullshit — which appears to have been changed to just BS for logistical reasons.  Here’s a clip of what to expect from their show, which aims to take the wind out of the sails of hyped-up topics like the war on porn.

Here’s a clip…

In conjunction with the release of the show’s sixth season on DVD, we’re giving away a copy!  To enter, just e-mail tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “Less politics, more magic!”

Giveaway: The Tudors seasons one and two

the-tudors-season3Yeah, we’re not effing around this time.

In conjunction with the beginning of season three of The Tudors, we’re giving away the show’s first two seasons. The show (which airs on Showtime Sundays at 9 p.m.) has already started up, but you can watch the season premiere on YouTube by clicking here.

Truthfully, I’m just beginning to watch the show, but it seems to be good bodice-ripping fun. And if there half as many hot naked people in the show as there are on the season three poster, it should be worth sticking with.

I’m trying to figure out if Jonathan Rhys Meyers is as swoon-worthy as folks are trying to make him out to be. I’m not sold on him yet, although maybe you have to watch him in action to get that tyrannical intensity.

Also, check out this blog which takes a decidedly non-stuffy approach to the show.

To win the DVDs, e-mail tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “Nudity throne.”

Giveaway: My Boys season one

myboys_cast2_240x260_101920060339And they said it wouldn’t last…  My Boys is coming back for a third season.

Well, I don’t suppose I can cite anyone specifically who said it wouldn’t last, but generally speaking comedies don’t last long. There seems to be an inverse relationship between the quality and longevity of a comedy (hello there, Yes Dear).

In conjunction with the premiere of the third season premiere of My Boys (airing March 31 at 10:30 p.m.), we’re going to be giving away a DVD copy of the show’s first season PLUS an autographed poster.  There’s no splitting this one up — it’s all or nothing!

If you want to win, e-mail us at tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “I’m a ladyman.”

Here’s a teaser of the premiere:

Giveaway: Totally Fit with Mel B

melbListen, TiFaux readership — I’m not trying to call you fat.

I swear. Even though this is the second workout DVD giveaway we’ve done, we still find you sexy after all these years. (But would it kill you to use some Splenda every once in a while?)

Meanwhile, we do have a DVD to give away — this time it’s erstwhile Spice Girl/Eddie Murphy babymama/entertainment reporter Mel B showing off her post-pregnancy abs for the camera. Her workout regimen includes exercises for your “arms, legs, bums and tums.”

And if you do her crunches the right way, you might acquire a Cockney accent. Not that she has one, but still.

See for yourself — here’s a preview of what you could win.

If you’d like to win the video, send an e-mail to tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “It was all downhill after Ginger left.”

Giveaway: The View, Thom Felicia and the rest

geddes2Congrats to TiFaux reader Suzy for winning the Thom Felicia-slash-The View-slash-Kimberely Clark giveaway!

She’ll receive a book and all sorts of paper products, including diapers, for writing to us with the subject line “Diapers for my imaginary baby.” However, the joke’s on me, because it turns out that good old Suze is actually gestating a real-life infant as we speak!

So, I think I speak for the whole TiFaux crew when I say thank you for reading and we expect you to buy one of these fetching onesies.

Giveaway: Thom Filicia and products to catch various bodily fluids

bearsGiveaway time! It’s been a while, no?

This is a weird one, though. I don’t have DVDs of some offbeat show to give away (and, by the way, previous winners — I swear to God I’ll send out your stuff soon.  I don’t plan on stealing it.) — this time, I’ve got a book by Thom Filicia (the interior design guy from Queer Eye) as well as a heaping helping of Kimberly-Clark products for you and your family members to sneeze, poop or cry into.

So, here it is: Kimberly-Clark and The View are sponsoring the Room-A-Day Giveaway sweepstakes where you can enter to have good ole’ Thom sashay over to your house and undo all the damage you’ve done to the place. I’m tempted to enter myself, just so he can see the refugee camp-like squalor I live in and say “try me.” In any case, the reveals will be done on The View in a special segment with Joy Behar (fun fact: Joy Behar — not Jewish! Who knew?).

(PS – If I weren’t a gay Jew, you could read the preceding paragraph as both anti-semitic and homophobic)

Moving on, the prize pack includes several Kimberly Clark products (from brands such as Huggies, Scott, Kleenex) and Thom Filicia’s new book, Thom Filicia Style: Inspired Ideas for Creating Rooms You’ll Love! If you’d like to enter the contest, visit http://www.roomadaygiveaway.com.

If you’d like to win the book and the paper goods, write in to tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “Diapers for my imaginary baby.”

Giveaway: Heroes seasons one and two!

It’s time for free things! Hooray!

My gentleman friend Derek has given us two prizes to given us a copy of each of the two season of Heroes to give away. It’s all in an effort to drum up enthusiasm for the new web-based series co-sponsored by Sprint called Heroes: Destiny (by the way, Derek, is there any way you can get me one of those newfangled Instinct phones? For free? And the data plan to match?  And also, maybe, a burrito?).

The first episode, Let Us Pray, features a Peruvian time-bending boy (kind of like Hiro). He looks like a latin version of Dan from Gossip Girl. He uses his powers to woo latin Rachel Bilson.

The second episode is below the fold.

If you’d like to win seasons one or two of Heroes, write to tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “Milo’s bangs.” As usual, the winners will be announced when I get around to it.

Giveaway: The 4400 – The Complete Series

Look at us. Seriously, look at us.

Following up on the heels of our kick-ass Gossip Girl giveaway, we’ve got copy of The 4400: The Complete Series burning a hole in our pockets (it’s a good thing Sara always wears parachute pants, otherwise it wouldn’t fit).

I don’t want to let all these giveaways go to my head, but we are very powerful, influential bloggers at TiFaux. Next week? A gilded copy of Designing Women: Season One, anointed with the blood of Delta Burke herself.

For now, though, there’s The 4400. It just came out on on DVD — all 15 discs of it. John has described it to me as a bit of a precursor to Heroes.

Here’s the premise: Over the past century, 4400 people have gone missing. Suddenly, they all re-appear in the same place in the present day, looking like they had just turn up from the sock hop or speakeasy or Whitesnake concert they disappeared from.

Somehow, the government gets involved and then people with guns start wandering around (see picture). I hope that’s not a spoiler.

Side note: I feel like the guy in this picture has some real basic cable hair.

In any case, if you’d like to win the complete effing series, shoot us an e-mail at tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line “TiFaux is my dealer.”

Giveaway: OMFGossip Girl!

Sound the trumpets, strumpets: We have an awesome Gossip Girl giveaway today!

Even rich people like free stuff.

Even rich people like free stuff.

Thanks to the delightful people publicizing the hell out of this show, we have one gift pack to give away. The gift pack includes Season 1 of the show on DVD (field hockey catfight! Blair + Chuck in the back of the limo! SERENA AND NATE IN THE CAMPBELL APARTMENT OMG!), the brand-new soundtrack from the show, OMFGG: Official Music Featured on Gossip Girl, AND the sparkly-like-Nate’s-eyes Gossip Girl–themed board game, titled Never Have I Ever. Throw in some comically overpriced martinis, very short skirts, and an ascot and you have one hell of an evening right there, friends.

Here’s the track list for the soundtrack, you know, if relaxed and groovy music-from-TV is your thing:

1. The Kills – “Sour Cherry”
2. The Kooks – Do You Wanna”
3. Phantom Planet – “Do The Panic”
4. The Teenagers – “Feeling Better”
5. The Virgins – “One Week Of Danger (Demo Version)”
6. Nadia Oh – “Got Your Number”
7. Crystal Castles – “Crimewave”
8. The Republic Tigers – “Fight Song”
9. Junkie XL – “Cities In Dust”
10. The Ting Tings – “We Started Nothing”
11. Oppenheimer – “Breakfast In NYC”
12. The Pierces – “Three Wishes”
13. Albert Hammond Jr. – “Hard To Live In The City”

Ha! “The Virgins”! Like there are any of those left on the show!

You guys, I am so jealous I am no longer eligible to win the swag. So if you want in on all this awesome, e-mail tifaux -at- gmail -dot- com with the subject line Team Chuck Bass, and include in your e-mail a sentence that begins with “Never have I ever…” and ends with something that will amuse me and Dan. “Accidentally killed a drug dealer” and “Failed to close the deal with super-boring minor British royalty” will get you disqualified. And remember: Tights are not pants! Contest ends next Friday, Halloween. For extra credit (read: to win immediately) put on your Gossip Girl–inspired costume and send us pictures.

Giveaway: When We Left Earth

I suppose I should let you know who won the When We Left Earth giveaway that I announced a few fortnights ago. Congratulations to Lauren P.

Y’all would be surprised at how many people wrote in and talked about their experiences at space camp. I think it should make me proud that TiFaux readers are so unapologetic in their nerdery.

Moving on, here’s a clip showing what it’s like to blast off — for the families and for the astronauts.

Click here for a video clip of the Hubble Telescope deployment set to rock music that could have been (and probably was) performed by high school guidance counselors. It’s fairly charming. This clip is frustratingly unembeddable, though.

Not that I have a chip on my shoulder.
